DX51D Galvanized Steel Coil
Galvanized layer Z100 – Z275 g/m² | Rust-proof | Corrosion-resistant
What is DX51D GI Steel Coil?
DX51D Gi Coil is a galvanized steel coil, “DX51D” is the material grade of hot-dip galvanized steel coils according to the European standard EN 10346. It stands for hot-dip galvanized steel for cold forming and is suitable for processing scenarios such as bending and stamping.
“GI” (Galvavized Iron) refers to the hot-dip galvanizing process, which provides corrosion protection by dipping a steel substrate into a molten zinc solution to form an iron alloy coating. The amount of galvanization is indicated by a “Z”, e.g. Z275 means that the total amount of galvanization on both sides is 275 g/m2 each.
DX51D has regional equivalents, equivalent to SGCC (JIS standard) in China and close to certain galvanized steel grades in ASTM A653/A653M in the USA.
Meaning of DX51D Gi Coil
- DX denotes formable steel (generally cold rolled mild steel).
- 51 represents the quality grade of steel, 51 being suitable for general purposes.
- D is for Flat Steel.
- Gi (Galvanized Iron): refers to hot-dip galvanized, where a layer of zinc is applied to the surface of the steel to increase its corrosion resistance.
- Coil: Steel supplied in coils for ease of transportation and processing.
Characteristics
- Galvanized: DX51D is covered with a layer of zinc on the surface of the steel sheet through the hot-dip galvanizing process, providing excellent protection against corrosion. Common zinc coating weights include 80g/m², 120g/m², 150g/m², 275g/m², etc. (total for both sides), depending on the usage requirements.
- Substrate: Usually based on mild steel, e.g. cold rolled substrate DC01 or hot rolled substrate DD11.
- Mechanical Properties: Yield strength is usually around 250 MPa, tensile strength between 270-500 MPa and tensile strength is usually not less than 22%, depending on the thickness and plating.
- Thickness Range: common thicknesses are 0.4-3.0 mm and widths up to 1520 mm.
Processing Performance
The surface of DX51D can be color coated (PPGI/PPGL) and RAL standard colors are customized to meet the needs of architectural decoration.
The hardness grades are categorized into normal (HRB70±5) and full hardness (HRB90±5), and support cold processing such as welding, stamping, and bending.
